The Grand National - The good, the bad and the ugly!

For the first time in what seems like forever, all 40 runners of the Grand National came back safe and sound, with 17 also crossing the finishing line safely.

Dramatic changes were put in place for this years race after officials received backlash when last years race sadly claimed another horses life.

It was also reported that fewer falls were encountered during this years race which hopefully meant the redesigned and safer fences played their important role well.

In total only two horses fell throughout the whole race and only six jockeys were unseated. It was the first time in 166 runnings of the Grand National that the entire field was in contention up to the Canal Turn.

The work of the Air Ambulance

This week I tell the story of how the Air Ambulance in Lincolnshire saved my friends young sisters life. Throughout the past few months they have had to go through the ordeal of bad news and adapting a new way of life. However, this has not once shown in their attitude to living life to the full and Kirsty is a person we should all be proud of.

To raise money for the Lincolnshire and Nottinghamshire, myself and Katie, Kirsty's sister, are doing a sponsored hack on Christmas Eve dressed as Santas. No doubt we will look absolutely hilarious, but we cannot wait to raise money and help an organisation that potentially saves so many lives throughout the county.

Why I love fox-hunting...

With opening meets due to take place in the next couple of weeks all over the country, it can only mean that it is the season for fox-hunting again.

What do you think about it? Are you for or against? Or maybe you don't really have an opinion?

 "Before you judge, give a sparing thought to farmers that lose money and business from foxes killing or wounding their livelihood; chickens, cows and sheep.
Foxes are vermin that kill farmer’s livestock for fun. Imagine that farmer’s livelihood is all I have mentioned above.
Think that if a fox destroyed most of it, how would he put food on the table for his family? How would he provide?
Hunters are trying to protect the livestock of the farming community. Shooting the foxes can lead to a slow and painful death that isn’t as humane as allowing a foxhound to get it."
